The Commodities of Your Campaign
Posted on:

I've come up with a preliminary list of commodities. It's probably too many to manage at this early stage, but I wanted more depth than, "Food, transportation, building materials and metal." Next step is to come up with manufactured goods and sort things...

I've been working off a map of Rome that shows the development of the Italian peninsula from 500 BCE up through the conclusion of the 3rd Punic War (about 180 BCE, if memory serves). I also have a map of the Etruscan cities from when Rome was just a prote...

I've completed my T5 AstroSynthesis application. I spent about 12 hours on it a week ago, Sunday and wrapped it up.
Now all I have to do is make it pretty. And distributable. Of course, I'll need the T5 publisher's permission first, so I'll just send...

NBOS, makers of AstroSynthesis, sent me a private beta version of their AstroSynthesis 3.0 software. I'm not that special. I purchased a copy of 2.0 and subscribed to the mailing list, so I got into a beta. Hooray for me!

I've come to the Climate part of the new-and-improved UWP or Universal World Profile. The climate of a world is defined as one of 5 possible values: Temperate, Hot, Cold, Twilight Zone, or Locked. Determining these for systems generated using the system ...

I've got a working method for Atmospheric determination. Some of the comments in the code should help explain things. I did some research in determining the percentages that make something dangerous.
Since AstroSynthesis recognizes only four atmospher...

Given that I have a pressure number (measured in Atmospheres), the density of the atmosphere can be pretty easily determined.
I simply take the number and implement a standard range for Trace, Very Thin, Thin, Standard and Dense. It's pretty simple giv...

All rightey. I have two atmosphere data points. Atmosphere which is a measure of the pressure on the surface of the planet and Atmosphere Components which contains a breakdown of the gases contained therein. T5 recognizes 15 different types of atmospher...

The Software, Revisited

I made a major breakthrough on Friday night working on the new-and-improved T5 system generator for AstroSynthesis. I got the LINQ queries working (finally!) through a series of trial-and-error attempts and then completed the 'Save' method.
That means ...

THINGS ABOUT 4TH Ed. DnD I DON’T LIKE

Carl’s been bugging me to post a bit about the DnD 4th edition game since I’m the only one of the three hams here to have any real play experience with the system. So, I guess I am finally. My group up in Bellingham decided to switch over and try the 4th...
